Get to Know Me
My name is Lorna Ellen and I am a therapeutic counsellor working with people may be struggling with anxiety, isolation, depression, worry and identity and relationship issues supporting them to talk and explore emotions and feelings which may feel confusing and difficult to understand. Talking to someone else really can help bring clarity and change and I am proud that my work can benefit people and help them find a better way to live.
Counselling can help you find solutions in life and build confidence and self-esteem to communicate your needs to the people around you. I believe that anyone can benefit from counselling because it is so powerful.
I have a positive outlook on life, manage my own business and work at a college with young people in Manchester. I have 2 children and a partner, a busy life and friends who I wish I saw more!
I haven't always had a positive outlook on life though, and I understand how it feels to struggle with anxiety and not feeling 'good enough'. I reached out for support when I needed it and counselling brought me a new way of living my life which makes me much happier than I was.
I know how hard it can be to keep quiet about emotions and struggle with relationships because silence and avoidance seems easier than upsetting people we love.
Experiencing my own challenges helps me to help you - I may not know what you are going through but my time as a client helps me understand your pain and the process you may go through in counselling.
Years of training and my experience helping others means I can support you to find a safe route that works for your situation.
I was always putting other people first - always making sure that everyone else was OK, working, keeping a home, looking after children but I was resentful and full of worry and anxiety.
Taking that first step to find a counsellor was the best thing I did for myself and my family - I continue to find space for myself, walking in the hills, maintaining relationships with friends and ensuring I prioritise myself and my self-care.
You can make positive change in your life and put boundaries in place so you can care for yourself as well as others.
I can help you rebuild relationships and manage complex family issues, finding ways to improve your life by exploring the challenges in your life and how you truly feel about them.
The therapy spaces I work in are all calm, tranquil spaces, where you can feel comfortable and safe enough to speak your truth in a confidential space.
Finding the right counsellor can be daunting and a difficult choice. I have been through the experience so I will always aim to find you the right way to make a start and we can work together to find what works for you.
